<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The human body consists of trillions of cells, but a mutation in one of them can cause cancer.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This example demonstrates that biology is not a process driven by averages and highlights the importance of single cell-level studies. The last years have seen a rapid expansion of the field of\u202fsingle-cell genomics, which has enabled paradigm shifts in many fields of biological sciences, ranging from evolutionary biology over stem cell\u202fbiology to cancer research.\u202f<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ISCO conference<\/strong>\u202f is co-organized by leading\u202f centres\u202f for\u202f genomic and\u202f biomedical\u202f research in\u202f Berlin and\u202fBarcelona and brings together\u202f young\u202f single cell researchers from different disciplines to\u202f enable scientific exchange and\u202f foster new\u202finternational collaborations. Topics are innovations in single-cell and spatially-resolved technologies, new computational approaches and\u202fapplications in the medical arena. This year, an additional focused session on single-cell epi-genomics will be included in the program. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

ISCO puts special emphasis on providing networking opportunities for PhD students and postdocs, with a large number of talks from selected abstract, a poster session and dedicated time to facilitate exchange with colleagues and informal discussions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
